Role Title: Commercial Manager (Rail)\n\nStart Date: ASAP\n\nEnd Date: 12 Months - Extension Available\n\nLocation: Birmingham - Hybrid\n\nRate: £110p/h max via Umbrella\n\nRole Brief:\n\nBalance risk, opportunity, and financial returns in both pre- and post- contract commercial management with a focus on in year performance (revenue, cash, and EBIT) as well as supporting growth in the market.\nProvide oversight and commercial advice for preparation and negotiation of contract documentation including lump sum, target cost and re‑measurable contracts.\nLead on development of PQQ/ITT and contractor evaluation processes to support clients in chosen procurement routes.\nInterrogate and drive production of monthly PSR (CVR) and associated commercial reports such as Earned Value Management (EVM).\nDevelop and implement the commercial strategy on projects to maximise revenue and cash flow.\nSet the standard and expectations for change control, contract management and claims/disputes.\nGuide project teams on commercial risks and opportunities.\nInterpret/input into contract programmes and schedules to identify associated risks and utilise commercial levers.\nMentor and manage more junior members of the commercial team and promote regular visibility across offices and sites, where teams are based.\nEnsure compliance with the Company Management System (CMS) and all procedures, uphold company values and promote safety culture.\nContribute to wider market and divisional requirements as they arise.\nManage multiple internal and external stakeholders within project and business deadlines. \n\nAbout you\n\nTrack record of successful project delivery in a commercial management role, for either main contractor or consultancy in Transport, Water and Energy sectors.\nExpert in contract management and change control.\nExperience across a range of common Forms of Contract (particularly, expertise in NEC & NEC PSC).\nAbility to develop and implement procurement, supply chain and market management initiatives such as procurement strategies and alliancing agreements.\nUnderstanding of procurement law and regulations.\nAble to demonstrate leadership in solving problems and tackling challenges creatively.\nExcellent analytical skills and consistent attention to detail with the ability to solve complex problems and mitigate risks.\nExcellent verbal and written communication including report writing, presentations and contractual correspondence.\nExperience of leading and motivating a team within a large‑scale business/project environment. \n\nCandidates will submit their CV in the first instance and thank you for taking the time to apply!\n\nIf you receive suspicious outreach claiming to be from us, please contact us via the ManpowerGroup website
