Job Description

Data Platform Engineer - Milton Keynes - Hybrid 2-3 Days/Month

A leading UK organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Data Platform Engineer to support the ongoing evolution of its enterprise data environment. This position offers the chance to work within a modern cloud-first technology function, helping deliver reliable, scalable, and secure data services that underpin critical business operations.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative engineering team responsible for maintaining platform availability, improving automation, and supporting the delivery of cloud-native data solutions across the wider business.

The Role

You will be involved in the day-to-day management and enhancement of the organisation’s data platform estate, supporting operational performance while contributing to longer-term platform improvements and modernisation initiatives.


Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Supporting cloud-based data infrastructure and services
  • Managing platform uptime, resilience, and performance
  • Troubleshooting incidents and identifying root causes
  • Contributing to automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives
  • Supporting platform monitoring, alerting, and optimisation
  • Working closely with internal technology teams and external partners
  • Assisting with platform governance, scalability, and operational best practice


Required Experience

  • Background in Data Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or similar technical roles
  • Experience supporting cloud-based platforms within enterprise environments
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server technologies
  • Experience managing incidents, changes, and operational support activities
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities
  • Comfortable working within fast-paced and technically complex environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills


Desirable Skills

  • Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code tooling
  • Exposure to cloud monitoring and observability platforms
  • Understanding of Zero Trust or modern cloud security principles
  • Experience with cost optimisation and cloud reporting tools
  • Relevant technical degree or certifications beneficial
